The Company’s policy on client privacy and confidentiality is as set out in the following statement, and all Company representatives must ensure that the requirements of the policy are observed at all times - AFL Cape York Ltd is committed to the principles outlined in the Privacy Act (Amendment 2001) and has in place procedures that ensure compliance with the legislation. To protect your privacy the Company ensures that:

  • your files are kept in a secure place;
  • all information relating to clients and service users is confidential and will not be disclosed to any other person or organisation without your permission;
  • permission to share information will be sought only when reasonably necessary and shall only be shared with others to the extent that sharing is necessary to ensure appropriate services are delivered;
  • only information that is necessary to ensure the delivery of effective services is collected;
  • staff receive training that they are not to discuss the personal details of clients to persons outside of the Company.

Example of use of information:

  • provision of medical information about a child to a medical practitioner when the child falls ill or is injured on an AFL Cape York activity;
  • provision of Medicare number and other Medicare details to that medical practitioner.
